Desiree has been living in Marton for the past 6 years after making a lifestyle move from Wellington. She has been able to grow artistically during this time.
Desiree began painting in 2003 but is now focused on printmaking, producing limited editions.
When painting Desiree uses acrylic on canvas, with in-depth colour, varying textures, collage and mixed media techniques. However, in 2011 she found a passion for printmaking after completing 3 terms at Inverlochy House, Wellington. The various collagraphy, etching, woodcut and dry-point/intaglio techniques have encouraged a more spirited approach to her art work
Desiree considers her artwork to be contemporary, abstract and somewhat impressionist. Inspiration is drawn from travel both within New Zealand and internationally, significant life events, her garden and from the great artists Monet, Modigliani, Matisse and Picasso.
Past exhibitions include the Inverlochy Art School’s Annual Exhibition in January 2012 and 2013, and also at the New Zealand Art Show in August 2012.
