About My Work
I began painting in 2003 and am self -taught. My painting practices include acrylic paints/mediums on canvas or paper, in-depth colours, varying textures, collage and mixed media techniques.
In 2011 I moved more into printmaking and completed 3 terms at Inverlochy House, Wellington. The various etching, woodcut and dry-point techniques have encouraged a more spirited approach to all my art work.
I also enjoy card making.
I consider my artwork to be contemporary, abstract and somewhat impressionist. My inspiration is drawn from travel both within New Zealand and internationally, significant life events, and from the great artists Monet, Modigliani, Matisse and Picasso.
In 2013 my husband and myself made a lifestyle change with a move from Wellington to the beautiful Rangitikei district. I have been able to set up a small studio and now own a HomePrint A3 Xpress 5000 printing press.
I have exhibited in and sold artwork from the Inverlochy Art School’s Annual Exhibition in January 2012 and 2013, and also at the New Zealand Art Show in August 2012.
Work has also been sold from several cafes in Wellington City, the Marton Barbers Art Gallery, Wellington Road, Marton, The Store, Ballance Bridge, Pahiatua, and the Outrageous Gallery Gifts and Garden Art Wanganui.
In September 2015 I had an exhibition at the Feilding Arts and Crafts Centre, 104 Manchester Street, Feilding which was successful and lots of fun to experience. It was shared with Lorraine Barnett a very talented potter and was called Impressions.
2016 saw a small exhibition held at the Marton Barber Gallery promoting me only on one of the Gallery's walls - this was called Inked Up.
Then in late 2016 PUG Creative was formed and we opened a pop up store in Broadway Marton. This ran from 31 October through to 23 December and was a great learning experience. This venture was repeated again in 2017 and was again very successful with further artists joining us and enjoying the experience.
I also have work available for sale at Outrageous Gallery Gifts and Garden Art in Wanganui.
I also welcome commissions.
Feel free to follow me on Facebook.
For my framing requirements I use Broadway Colour Plus, Wellington Road, Marton.
